Setting targets using reverse calculators

Targeting a specific star rating? Our reverse calculators give you an indication of the maximum amount of energy and water your building can use to achieve your desired rating.

We are excited to announce that we are transitioning our Reverse Calculators to an online form to provide a more efficient and user-friendly experience. As part of this transition, the Combined Reverse Calculator spreadsheet will be phased out.

Transition to the online form

Starting from 1 July 2023, the online form will be the only supported version for all sectors, except for hospitals and warehouses & cold stores. For these two sectors, the spreadsheet-based version will still be available until they are transitioned to the online form.

We encourage all users to switch to the new online Reverse Calculators as soon as possible to ensure you have access to the most up-to-date and accurate results.

If you have any questions or concerns about this transition, please don't hesitate to contact us at nabers@environment.nsw.gov.au

Reverse calculations using the rating calculator spreadsheet (Excel) are available for:

  • Hospitals
  • Warehouses and cold stores
  • Schools
  • Retail stores

Reverse calculations using the online calculator are available for:

  • Office buildings
  • Hotels
  • Shopping centres
  • Data centres
  • Residential aged care, retirement living and co-located sites
  • Apartment buildings

Remember, results from the calculators are an indication only and cannot be promoted or published. To promote or disclose an energy rating target, you must have a NABERS Commitment Agreement in place.
