You’ve made your plan, now it’s time to take action.
You’re probably going to need to employ consultants and contractors to make some of your changes such as installing variable speed drives on motors and fans, upgraded air conditioning, timers and sensors or water-efficient devices.
When engaging consultants and contractors ensure you:
- check their environmental credentials
- share your targets so they understand your goals
- ask them to upgrade their standard requirements to reflect your requirements
- consider using Environmental Performance Contracting (EPC), a results-driven approach that guarantees long-term savings.
Don’t just assume that your changes will make a difference – use metering to track results and compare them with your stated goals.
Regularly update your staff, customers and contractors during the implementation of your plan – creating awareness helps motivate others and change perceptions.
