Strengthening the network: NABERS Assessors meet in Sydney and Brisbane

News | 09 Mar 2026

The NABERS Assessor community came together in February and March for in person forums held in Sydney and Brisbane, with additional participants joining online. The events provided a valuable opportunity to connect, share updates and recognise the important role Assessors play in delivering NABERS outcomes across Australia.

Program highlights

The forums featured updates from NABERS representatives and the Commercial Buildings Disclosure (CBD) team, alongside a presentation from Shea Wittig, Certification Manager at Ecotourism Australia. The session explored sustainability in the hotel sector and prompted thoughtful discussion among attendees.

Key topics covered included:

  • NABERS program updates
  • Sustainability in hotels
  • Commercial Buildings Disclosure (CBD) updates from the Commercial Buildings Policy Team at the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water
  • Assessor marketing toolkits focused on customer-centred messaging and outlining the key audience drivers for Non-Government Schools and Shopping Centre CoAssess. Download the toolkits here.
  • Practical upskilling and training opportunities for NABERS Assessors to broaden industry knowledge.

Strengthening the Assessor network

Engagement from the Assessor community was a central feature of the events, with participants contributing questions, insights and perspectives throughout the sessions. Networking opportunities allowed Assessors to connect with peers and share experiences from across the sector.

NABERS thanks everyone who joined the forums in Sydney, Brisbane and online. The continued engagement and expertise of the Assessor community play a vital role in strengthening and supporting the NABERS program.
