NABERS recently submitted a stakeholder consultation response on the Building Codes Committee (BCC) version of the National Construction Code 2025 (NCC 2025) by the Australian Buildings Codes Board (ABCB).
As a part of this response, NABERS proposed a series of updates to J1V1 verification method (NABERS Energy Commitment Agreements) to align with the stringency level increases to the commercial building energy efficiency provisions.
Recommended updates to the J1V1 verification method include:
- Updated NABERS Energy Commitment Agreement target ratings – which are a direct reflection of the increases in stringency level requirements (Stringency Level 3); and
- Modelled NABERS Energy star ratings to meet NCC modelling requirements.
For more information on the proposed updates to J1V1 in NCC 2025, refer to the proposed recommendations here.
Further information on the proposed Stringency Level 3 can be found in the Consultation Regulation Impact Statement (CRIS) on the proposed NCC 2025.
